At 14, he joined the North East Democratic Club and impressed the many adults as he tirelessly walked precincts.

I recently saw him return to that club to install its new slate of officers and I watched as John remembered the members who awarded him a scholarship 25 years ago. He gave his TIME as a youth and he gave his RESPECT as a returning public official.
