2010 convention was a blast!
Were you among the crowd of nearly 3,000 people rocking the JW Marriott and LA Convention Center?
It was a weekend of firsts:
• First convention packed with organizing training for our grassroots
• First time for including comprehensive county chair training session
• First convention under Chairman John Burton
• First time we had more than 1,000 volunteers sign up
• First “blue carpet premiere”
• First time having only one Saturday general session
• First Saturday night concert (Chico Mann and Los Lobos really got the crowd dancing)
• First time at the brand-spanking new JW Marriott Hotel
We also packed in five committee meetings, 21 caucus meetings, 7 workshops, approximately 20 speeches, 11 hospitality suites, more than 100 new DEM2010 members, dozens of tweets, and one “taco truck throw-down!”
It was definitely a great way to bring our delegates and grassroots together to learn something new, share experiences, and generally get ready for the real work ahead of us: getting Democrats elected in November.
If you missed it, we have posted some of the convention speeches on YouTube, with more to come.

Our 2010 State Platform was adopted, culminating the committee’s months of hard work, with lead chairs Lyn Shaw-Hilfenhaus and Howard Welinsky. The 2010 Platform will be posted on the CDP website early next week.
